I Sing the Body Electric

This is my setting of Walt Whitman's epic poem for chamber ensemble. This performance was part of Whitman@200, a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth in May of 2019. This performance features Jonathan Carney - violin, Dariusz Skoraczewski - cello, Marcia McHugh - flute, Bill Jenken - clarinet/bass clarinet, Michael Sheppard - piano, Brian Prechtl - percussion, Judith Krummeck and Rafael Alvarez - narrators.

This piece was commissioned by the Lamont Percussion Ensemble, John Kinzie, Director. It is scored for solo trumpet and percussion ensemble with narrator. In this performance Matt Barker serves as trumpet soloist with the Lamont Percussion Ensemble and M. Roger Holland, narrator.
